**App identifier: com.d73.pillbox**
Point the camera at a pill, a bottle, a box, or a blister pack. The app tells you what it is, answers your questions, and reminds you when to take it. Here is how everything works — and how to reach us.
## Fastest Way to Get Help
Email **[email protected]** — or in the app, **Settings → Contact**.
Every message is read and answered by the maker of the app, usually within a day.
---
## Scanning
**Capture**
Open **Scan** and tap **Capture**. Fill the frame with the pill or the label, hold still, and take one picture. The result appears in a few seconds: the picture, the name and strength, what it is generally for, the directions from the label, and the facts the app could read.
**Tips for a clean read**
Good light, no shadow across the text. For a loose pill, put the imprinted side up on a plain background and get close. For a bottle or box, the label with the drug name works best.
**Upload a photo**
Already have a picture? Tap **Upload a photo** and choose it. The app only receives the photo you pick.
**"No pill or label here"**
The app could not find a pill or a label in the picture. Move closer, add light, or make sure the text is in frame, then try again.
**Not certain?**
When the app is not sure, it says so and lists what else it could be. Check the imprint (the letters and numbers on the pill) against the packaging, or tap **Ask** and ask it to compare.
## Asking
**Ask about a pill**
From **Scan**, tap **Ask about a pill**, frame the pill, and tap the button. A live voice conversation starts about that pill — ask anything: what it is for, how it is usually taken, what it should not be mixed with. Tap the keyboard button to type instead of talking, and the microphone button to mute.
**Ask from a result or a pill's page**
Tap **Ask it anything** on any result or saved pill.
**Set things by voice**
During a call you can say "remind me at 8 every morning" or "I have 30 left" — the app creates the same reminder or count you would set by hand.
The call needs an internet connection and microphone permission. It ends when you hang up, after a while with no talking, or after ten minutes.
## Saving
**Keep a pill**
Nothing is saved until you choose to. On a result, tap **Save** — or set a reminder or a count, which saves the pill so there is something for them to belong to. Saved pills live in **Pills**.
**Is this right?**
Each saved pill shows the exact text the app read. Tap **Yes** once you have checked it against the label.
**A note from your doctor**
On any pill's page you can add a note — what your doctor or pharmacist told you. It stays with that pill and shows up wherever that pill does.
**Delete a pill**
Open it and tap the trash icon. Its reminders and history go with it.
## Reminders
**Set one**
On a result or a pill's page, tap **Set a reminder** (or **Add a reminder**), choose the times and days, and save. Or open **Reminders**, tap **+**, and pick the pill. The first reminder asks for notification permission.
**Taken**
When a reminder rings, tap **Taken** on the notification or the Lock Screen, or tap the circle next to the dose in **Reminders**. The next dose shows at the top of **Reminders** and on the **Scan** page.
**If you do not answer it**
A reminder nudges you once more, five minutes later, and never a third time. Mark the dose taken — or snooze it — and the second nudge does not arrive.
**Snooze**
The notification has a snooze button; choose how long it snoozes in **Settings → Snooze**.
**Widget and Live Activity**
Add the app's widget to your Home Screen to see the next dose at a glance. While a dose is due, it also appears on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
**Not ringing?**
Check **iPhone Settings → Notifications** for the app, and that Focus or Silent mode is not hiding alerts. The app's **Settings → Notifications** row shows whether permission is on and takes you there if it is not.
## Refills
**Count once**
On a result or a pill's page, tap **Count it**, enter how many you have and how many you take per dose, and save. If the label printed a quantity, it is filled in for you.
**It counts down**
Each dose you mark **Taken** lowers the count. The **Refills** tab shows how many are left and the day each pill runs out.
**Refill warning**
The app tells you the day to refill, ahead of time. Choose how far ahead in **Settings → Refill warning**. Tap **Refilled** when the new bottle arrives and enter the new count.
## For Your Doctor
In **Pills**, tap the clipboard icon to see every pill you keep, its schedule, and how many are left — in one list you can share as text before an appointment.
## Billing
**Plans** — prices are always shown in the app before you buy. Billing is handled entirely by Apple.
**I paid but it is not showing** — tap **Restore Purchases** in the app; your purchase follows your Apple ID, even on a new device. Still stuck? Email us.
**Cancel** — subscriptions are managed by Apple: **iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Cancel**. You keep access until the end of the paid period.
**Refunds** — issued by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
## Your Data
**Is an account required?** No. No sign-up, no email, no password.
**Where is my data?** On your phone. Pills, reminders, notes, history, and counts are stored on the device and never on our servers. Pictures you scan and questions you ask are processed by AI providers to give you the answer and are not stored by us.
**Export** — the round button at the top of **Settings** writes everything to a file you can keep.
**Delete everything** — **Settings → Delete everything** erases all of it from the phone and returns the app to its first screen. There is no server copy to delete.
**Details** — see the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
## Troubleshooting
**The camera is black or says it is off**
Allow camera access: **iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera**, and turn on the app.
**The identification is wrong**
The app reads labels and pills with AI, and it can be wrong. Compare the imprint and the packaging, use **Ask** to check, and if the pill is not what you have, delete it and scan again. Never take or change a medicine based on the app alone — check with your pharmacist or prescriber.
**Ask will not connect**
Check the internet connection and microphone permission (**iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone**). You can always type your question with the keyboard button.
**The widget is not updating**
Open the app once; the widget refreshes from what the app knows. Remove and re-add the widget if it stays stale.
**A note on accuracy**
The app is a helper, not a medical device. Its answers are general information read from the label and looked up by AI. Your pharmacist and prescriber know you; the app does not.
